September 6, 2009 - At PAX, Sony is showing off a brand-new map for its popular downloadable action-strategy game, Fat Princess. Titled New Pork and designed as a medieval metropolis, the new map joins the pack of existing real estate as one of the larger ones. The main thrust of the map is to provide a huge open arena for conflict. There are choke points and close quarters areas for personal engagement between the teams, but most players will get serious mileage out of the teleporters that warp you all over the map.
New Pork slows progress by stacking huge piles of trash that must be smashed through in order to open up the map. There are also a multitude of doors in the map that you can repair just like the castle doors. With these placed deeper in the map, you can actually manage your enemy's advancement. Of course, that means you need to cooperate with your own team in order keep those doors in tip-top shape.
There is no release date on the calendar yet for New Pork, nor the additional fixes and features, such as refreshed matchmaking formula, new leaderboards, and a new class of characters for the game that look like little cooks. Cooks could certainly be interesting additions to the game as both warriors that shatter skulls with rolling pins or serve up extra food for the princesses.
