Konami's TGS Booth

Kotaku have posted up several photos of the Konami booth from the Tokyo Game Show which has been held over the last few days over in Japan. With the development team based in Japan and with the game nearing release, PES was out in full force at the show with a large floor area dedicated to the game itself and plenty of footballing memorabilia.

You can check out all the pictures on the Kotaku website.

PES 2009 European Finals - 3rd October

It's coming up to that time of the year again ladies and gentlemen. Don your sunblock and pack your finest swimming trunks – it's the PES 2009 European finals.

Germany won the competition last year, but the UK will be hoping to regain its form from 2007 when Rob McLean and Mark Gardiner both made it through to the final game with Rob eventually taking 1st place.

This year’s competition is taking place in the idyllic location of Nice, France and entrants will be staying at the Royal Riviera hotel from the 3rd to the 4th October. With direct access to the to seaside, a 75mtr square spa, indoor swimming pool and private garden with outdoor pavilions, the hotel offers the perfect place to unwind ahead of some serious PES gaming.

So which two Rankings players have earned the right to represent the UK in the finals in this year’s tournament?

Firstly, we have leng_jay. Winner of both the Main Event and PES Rankings Season 4, leng_jay was relatively unknown until this season's Ricoh Arena Event where he brushed aside PES champions past and present to be crowned the winner. A fine example to any player sitting at home who thinks that they can challenge the best PES players the UK has to offer.

There’s also Footimaster – Season 3's Main Event winner, Footi has been dominant in the London PES scene for two years now and is a former Emirates Cup champion. Qualifies for the European Finals due to the sterling overall Rankings effort that saw him finish 2nd in the country.

PESFan leader TheBoss will also be in attendance, where he'll be doing - among other things - a live update on the day, interviews with some key people, and taking a tonne of photos for your amusement. Likely to be found clutching bottles of French biere in the suburbs of Nice until the early hours of the morning, but that’s a story for another time.

Look out for more European finals fun in the coming weeks.

Konami Blog - Cesc Pops In For A Game

Konami Blog - Cesc Pops In For A Game

The Konami blog has been updated with a post by Jon Murphy, PES Europe Team Leader, detailing about Arsenal star Cesc Fabregas' trip to Konami Europe head office this week.

“Legendary Spanish playmaker and PES lover Cesc Fabregas popped into the office today to check out PES2010 for himself. What did he think? He loved it!

I went through all the tactical improvements first, mentioning both the team sliders and player cards. He played around with settings for a while and asked loads of questions about how they'll affect the team AI. I think he wants some inside info before he starts playing against team mates.

As our teams lined up in the tunnel he was really taken aback by player likeness and he was also clearly impressed with the in-game graphics once we kicked off.

But Cesc was really here to see how the gameplay had developed and he clearly wasn't disappointed. He loved the increased difficulty and said building up play was much more realistic and satisfying.

We had a really tight game, with few chances. I missed an opening in the first half, he put one away in the second. Game over! He then had a game against his agent and won 5-2. He's a talented player on and off the pitch.

You don't have to take my word for all this. We filmed his impromptu visit and I'll get that onto the site as soon as I can.

Jon.”

Cesc was also kind enough to donate three signed PES 2010 t-shirts for use as prizes this year, adding to the growing list of great items we've got planned for you, our lucky lucky readers.
