Koei blends two unlikely franchises.
Rumor no more! Famitsu confirmed this week that Fist of the North Star will follow in the footsteps of Gundam for an unlikely pairing with Koei's Dynasty Warriors series.
The new game is to be known in Japan as "Hokutou Musou," reflecting the "Musou" name system for the Dynasty Warriors series over there. Details are scarce at present, but it looks like you'll get to take control of such characters and Kenshiro, Raoh, Rei and Yuria. The game's combat system will allow you to grab enemies by the chest and toss them (the screenshots we've seen make this look very cool).
PS3 and Xbox 360 owners can look forward to Hokutou Musou in Japan some time in 2010. Koei has not yet announced an English name or overseas release information.
You might recall a story we wrote last week regarding a Koei press conference that would see the unveiling of a new game from Dynasty Warriors Gundam producer Hisashi Koinuma. This does appear to be the mystery title. Koei has made an effort to invite the foreign press to the event. We'll take this as an indication that Hokutou Musou is being planned for international release.
Check back shortly for further details on this new twist on the Dynasty Warriors franchise. The Koei press conference will be held at 1:30PM Japan Standard Time on Wednesday. For US-based gamers, this translates to the evening or late night on Tuesday.
